Box Feeder Refurbishment: Full Overhaul, Rebuilt for a New Production Line

When heavy plant is being integrated into a new factory setup, everything needs to perform like new. That does not always mean replacing equipment. In many cases, a properly executed refurbishment delivers the same result at a fraction of the cost.

This latest project involved a complete overhaul of a box feeder, transforming a well-used unit into a machine ready for a new production environment.

Strip Back, Assess and Rebuild

The process started with a full strip-down of the hopper and main structure. Years of use had taken their toll, but the core of the machine remained solid.

From there, the team carried out:

  • Detailed inspection of all structural elements

  • Fabrication work to restore and strengthen key areas

  • Preparation for repositioning and rebuild

This is where experience matters. Refurbishment is not just repair work. It is about understanding how the machine will be used next.

Hopper Reinstalled and Reconfigured

A key part of this project was the reinstallation of the hopper, rotated 180 degrees to suit the new factory layout.

This kind of modification requires precise fabrication and alignment to ensure:

  • Correct material flow

  • Structural integrity

  • Compatibility with surrounding equipment

It is not a simple swap. It is a full reconfiguration to match the demands of the new installation.

Shotblast and Paint Finish

Once fabrication was complete, the machine was shotblasted to remove contamination and prepare the surface properly.

It was then finished with a high-quality paint system, giving:

  • Strong protection against wear and corrosion

  • A clean, consistent finish

  • A machine that looks and performs like new

The before and after difference is clear. More importantly, the machine is now ready for long-term use.

Why Refurbishment Makes Commercial Sense

With new machinery forming part of the wider factory install, refurbishing this unit ensured it could match the standard without the cost of replacement.

Key benefits include:

  • Significant cost savings compared to new equipment

  • Reduced lead times

  • Extended lifespan of existing assets

  • Seamless integration into new production lines

The result is a machine that fits perfectly alongside brand new equipment, both visually and operationally.

Refurbish. Re-Fit. Re-use.

This project is a strong example of what can be achieved with the right approach.

The work looks right. The performance is there. Most importantly, the customer is happy and planning the next project already.

If you have plant or machinery that needs upgrading, modifying or bringing back to life, Re-Fit delivers practical, long-term solutions.
